May 2026: Month Five

Two of the three May goals landed. The revenue goal missed by eleven dollars.

Bar chart comparing April and May 2026 downloads by app

The Numbers

Total: 312 downloads, $188.76 in revenue

What Happened

April goals were 100 downloads, $200 in revenue, and 2 apps shipped. Downloads came in at 312, more than three times the target. Three apps shipped, one past the goal: TodoBar, Conjugo, and ContactPDF, plus six new sticker packs. The revenue goal was the miss, and it was close. $188.76 against $200 is eleven dollars and change short.

NetUtil was the top app again at 70 downloads, all free, all organic. The SEO posts keep climbing in Google and the downloads keep following. NetUtil has not had a single line of promotion in months and it is still the most downloaded thing I make.

The money came from three paid Mac apps sold direct. Soundshine had another strong month at 67 downloads and 9 sales for $71.91, holding almost exactly flat from April. Ejecta did 8 downloads and 8 sales for $69.92, since every Ejecta download is a purchase. TypeSnap added one sale at $17.99. Those three apps made $159.82 of the $188.76 total.

The App Store side moved a lot of units and very little money. Sixteen apps there pulled in around $29 between them, almost all of it from a handful of small in-app purchases: three Just Habits unlocks, one Conjugo Lifetime, and the two sticker packs at $2.99 each.

SongSplit AI jumped from 14 downloads to 40 across the App Store and the website, helped by three version updates going out during the month. Just Habits cooled off from 60 to 37 after April’s spike. TodoBar launched on the 5th and did 9 downloads. Conjugo launched and pulled 10 downloads with one lifetime unlock. ContactPDF launched quietly at 3.

One more Ejecta sale would have closed the gap. I am not going to round the number up. $188.76 is $188.76.
